The Elizabethan England artworks respond to plays by William Shakespeare. Using old jigsaw puzzles as a ground, missing pieces replaced with hand painted replicas, roughly arrived at characters are rendered swiftly in oil paint over the patiently constructed stage.
The reign of The Tudors, characterised by gentility of design and horrific acts of barbarism, is examined here. Both The Globe Theatre and the Bear Garden (a bear bating arena) were situated alongside one another on the Southbank.
